This masterfully designed, graceful bridge connects St. Petersburg with its neighbors to the south. The original two-lane bridge was completed in 1954 and carried thousands of drivers per day to and from the Tampa Bay area. After a tragic accident in 1980, the bridge was redesigned and rebuilt with state-of-the-art technology, so that Florida’s flagship bridge now stands as an elegant visual beacon over the water. You can still enjoy part of the old bridge, now a fishing pier that sits in its big brother’s shadow.
